The San Diego Padres reinstated first baseman Ty France from the paternity list and optioned second baseman Mason McCoy to Triple-A El Paso in advance of Monday’s game at Colorado.
In his return to the Padres this season, the 32-year-old France is batting .294 with 20 home runs and 63 RBIs in 120 games. He is a career .266 hitter with 101 home runs and 427 RBIs over eight seasons and 960 games for five clubs after starting his career with the Padres in 2019.
McCoy, 31, is a career .181 hitter in 43 major league games since 2023.
The Padres entered MLB play Monday possessing the third and final wild-card playoff spot in the National League, 2 1/2 games ahead of their NL West rival the Arizona Diamondbacks.
