Report: LSU coach Wade arranged or offered payments to 11 recruits

LSU basketball coach Will Wade either arranged or offered impermissible payments to at least 11 recruits or their representatives, ESPN reported Wednesday.Citing NCAA documents, ESPN reported that Wade “arranged for, offered and/or provided impermissible payments, including cash payments, to at least 11 men’s basketball prospective student-athletes, their family members, individuals associated with the prospects and/or nonscholastic coaches in exchange for the prospects’ enrollment at LSU.”ESPN’s report comes on the heels of a report by The Advocate in Baton Rouge on Tuesday night that said the NCAA’s enforcement division requested that the Wade case be referred to the Independent Accountability Resolution Process (IARP), created to handle complex cases. The Advocate first reported that in a July 15 letter, NCAA vice president of enforcement Jonathan Duncan said the case against Wade meets at least five of seven factors for the IARP to take the case.Wade’s “tactics during the investigation have delayed resolution dramatically,” wrote Duncan, saying Wade missed several deadline to turn over records, per the reports.”He is employed in a leadership position at LSU, yet the institution has been unable to secure his full cooperation and is accountable for his behavior,” Duncan wrote.
