Big East uniforms to feature Black Lives Matter patches

Big East men’s and women’s basketball players will wear Black Lives Matter patches on their uniforms in the upcoming season.The 11 members of the conference unanimously approved the addition of the patches, the league said Wednesday.”As a sign of our support for ‘Black Lives Matter’ and the fundamental human rights these words were designed to capture, we are proud that Big East men’s and women’s basketball student-athletes will wear ‘BLM’ patches on their uniform jerseys throughout the 2020-21 season,” the conference said in a statement. “We hope our prominence and the visibility we can offer will help the BLM movement continue its momentum and achieve its goal of allowing America, once and for all, to live up to its ideals of equality for all.”
