Josh Bertaccini is the Program Director of 92.1 The Ticket, NWA’s #1 sports radio station. He hosts “The Red Zone with JB” on 92.1 FM every weekday morning from 6-9 AM — Josh was born in New York and grew up in New Jersey and Philadelphia. A rabid life-long sports fan, he has been working in radio, television and print for more than 20 years. In 1997, while in high school, he started writing articles as a part-time intern for the Philadelphia Daily News. Josh later graduated from Syracuse University’s prestigious Newhouse journalism school in 2002 with a Dual B.A. in Broadcast Journalism and English Literature. In 2003, he covered the Syracuse Orange’s NCAA men’s basketball title as a host and beat reporter for WSYR-AM. He also worked for two years as a TV sports anchor for Syracuse’s NBC 3 affiliate before venturing to the frozen tundra of Fargo, North Dakota in 2005 for a full-time radio position.
In 2006, JB moved south to Fort Smith, Arkansas, where he worked as program director and morning host at ESPN 96.3 for several years. In 2009, he went west and worked in Los Angeles for Fox Sports at KLAC-AM as their UCLA Bruins’ football reporter. In 2010, he returned East and hosted national weekend talk shows for Sirius Satellite’s Mad Dog Radio channel in New York City. But the warmer weather of the South kept calling. Josh was hired in Fayetteville by 92.1 the Ticket in 2011 and has worked there for the past seven years. He earned a Master’s degree in Communications from the University of Arkansas in 2014. After graduation, JB was hired by the U of A as an adjunct professor. He continues to teach sports media and communication classes at the U of A.
Josh loves working in sports and deeply appreciates the culture and passion of Arkansas fans. He’s always looking for young broadcast talent, and regularly hires up-and-comers at his radio station. Besides obsessing over sports, JB is a huge music and film fan, a self-professed “foodie” who likes to travel, plays basketball and tennis, and loves relaxing with wife, Megan, and children, Isabel and Isaac.
