Stricker holds first-round lead in Wisconsin

Steve Stricker achieved a personal milestone in his home state Friday, holding a first-round lead on the PGA Tour Champions for the first time after shooting 8-under-par 64 at the American Family Insurance Championship in Madison, Wis.Stricker, from Edgerton, Wis., sunk nine birdies, including three in a row from Nos. 6 to 8 and 11 to 13, at University Ridge Golf Course. The round was his 30th consecutive below par on the Champions Tour, the fourth-longest such streak in its history. German Bernhard Langer holds the record at 36.Brad Bryant is one stroke behind Stricker in sole possession of second place while John Daly, Steve Flesch and Scotland’s Colin Montgomerie are tied for third at 5 under. Langer is among a group of 10 tied for sixth at 4 under.
