Duke’s Cutcliffe get contract extension through 2022

Duke extended the contract of football coach David Cutcliffe through the 2022 season on Friday. The extension is for two years, athletic director Kevin White said in a news release.Cutcliffe has a 67-72 record in 11 seasons at Duke and has guided the Blue Devils to six bowl games in the past seven seasons.”To be sure, there is no better fit for Duke University and its prestigious football program than David Cutcliffe,” White said in a statement. “David has set the standard of achievement — academically, athletically and socially — and what he has accomplished over the past 11 years is truly exceptional.”His passion for excellence and vision for the program create the right combination to guide us well into his second decade on campus. In my humble opinion, David Cutcliffe is clearly the very best college football coach in the country.”Cutcliffe, 64, won Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2012 and 2013 and the Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year award in 2003 during his time at Ole Miss.
