Champion Virginia won’t visit White House

For the second consecutive year, college basketball’s national champions are passing on a visit to the White House.Virginia will not attend a ceremony in Washington, D.C., in part because many of the Cavaliers’ key players are pursuing NBA opportunities. Getting the band back together to be recognized at the White House rates as somewhere between challenging and not feasible, coach Tony Bennett said.”We have received inquiries about a visit to the White House,” Bennett said through a school statement. “With several players either pursuing pro opportunities or moving on from UVA, it would be difficult, if not impossible, to get everyone back together. We would have to respectfully decline an invitation.”Guards Ty Jerome and Kyle Guy and forwards De’Andre Hunter and Mamadi Diakite entered their names in the NBA draft process.
